Spawning Behavior of the Gulf Grouper

The goals of this project are to determine the importance of Cabo Pulmo National Park as essential spawning habitat for Gulf Grouper and to characterize spawning behaviors, spawning seasonality, and patterns of adult movement, habitat use, and distribution in relation to the park. With an understanding of these spatial and temporal dynamics, conclusions can be drawn on how and when Gulf Grouper use the park, which in turn, can be used to determine and develop additional refuges for this charismatic top predator that is critically endangered.
